Description
Turquoise is important to Tibet's people for thousands of years. The Turquoise is obtained from Himalayas mines, and the highest quality Turquoise is found in the Gangschan Mountains situated in Western Tibet but also located near the border of Lhasa.
As it is a porous material, the Turquoise can change in colour and density, which many Tibetan people take to indicate the wearer’s health. It is generally interpreted that the more vibrant the Turquoise is, the better. The paler it becomes suggests that the wearer may be unwell or the presence of evil.
